Abstract | |
| This article discusses the special aspects of citing electronic sources on the Internet. It discribes a proposal for a general referencing scheme, the affected problems and an overview of ISO 690-2 (Information and Documentation – Bibliographic Reference – Part 2: Electronic documents or parts thereof). A detailed part deals with references to sources on the Internet like URL (non persistend identifier) and URN, DOI, PURL, Handles (persistend identifiers) and archieved vs. non archieved sources. Also, there are examples for a variety of services (WWW, E-Mail, E-Mail Lists, Usenet News, Telnet, FTP, Gopher, WAIS) and the authors view of the expected development. | ||
